Why do so many people hate Jews?

The Jews have never used violence to get people to 'convert.' What did they do that was so terrible? Was it the fact that Israel was returned to them, the rightful owners of the land? The fact that they have attempted to make peace with the Palestinians more than once? I don't get it!
