If the meniscous tear is not that bad what should we do ?

i hurt my knee and i think its a meniscous tear, i have done MRI but the photo is not out yet so i started searching the web and found that there are minor and major cases. well in my case my knee is free i can bend it walk on it twist it and other things there is no locking or anything so what should i do ?? do i need a surgery or it is a tear in the outer meniscous which will heal by itself ? if so how much time it takes to heal by itself ???
