Can you purchase app names like domain names to sell for later profit?

I work for a relatively smaller restaurant corporation that has yet to enter the app world. I think it would be a great idea for them to start app for our company. Guests could use it to find locations, coupons, menu details etc. But corporate has yet to jump on the band wagon. Could I purchase a " app domain name" that they would have to purchase from me in the future when they decide to join the 21st century? Or have it so j can pitch it to the corporate office themselves and possibly use the presentation as a stepping stone to get into the marketing department???
